Custom Medical Services, Inc. - The Beginning

Custom Medical Services, Inc. was founded in 1983. CMS has created a reputation in the marketplace for the high level of medical billing and collection services it offers. CMS processes physician and other provider claims integral to the healthcare delivery system. Custom Medical Services, upon request, also performs other physician administrative functions. Most importantly, our growth over the years has been achieved ONLY through client referrals. Most of our clients’ Accounts Receivable Ratios reflect 90% of the practice’s outstanding dollars to be less than 60 days old. Currently, Custom Medical Services has contracts with over 50 practices and more than 100 providers.


Custom Medical Services, Inc. - The Principals

Byron Turnoff – Chief Executive Officer

Custom Medical Services, Inc. began due to specific needs of a few anesthesiologists
that were friends of Byron Turnoff, President and founder of the Company. They were looking for a more reliable outsource to collect payments from Insurance Companies and Patients for the services they performed at Boca Raton Community Hospital. During this period, Mr. Turnoff was C.E.O. of Neuro Medical Systems, a rehabilitation and Physical Therapy Equipment Company. Neuro Medical Systems was his major focus. Mr. Turnoff is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and began his career in the sales of medical equipment in the mid 1970s. Upon the sale of Neuro Medical in 1997, Mr. Turnoff applied his talents to growing Custom Medical Services, Inc.

Mark Tabor – President

Mr. Turnoff was joined in March 1999 by Mark Tabor, Vice President of Custom Medical Services, Inc. Mr. Tabor is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and relocated to Boca Raton, Florida in 1979. After attending law school, Mr. Tabor worked for the Certified Public Accounting Firm, Epstein, Tabor and Schorr C.P.A.s in Pittsburgh from 1975 to 1979. In 1979 Mr. Tabor became Vice President of Gilbert’s Fine Furniture, a family business founded in 1929. The business relocated to Pompano Beach in 1973. Mr. Tabor was affiliated with Gilbert’s until 1996.


Principals’ Philosophy

Mr. Turnoff and Mr. Tabor believe in a high priority of customer service, maintaining business practices based on honesty and integrity, while focusing on new technologies that are quickly changing the nature of the medical billing field, and creating an internal company culture that promotes quality and fairness.


Mid Level Management

Martha Barrientos, Administrative Assistant and Team Coordinator

Martha Barrientos began working at Custom Medical Services, Inc in April 1999 part-time while attending Florida Atlantic University. She graduated in 2002 with a degree in Finance. Prior to her promotion as Administrative Assistant and Team Coordinator, Martha had individual practice responsibilities and later was promoted to a Team Leadership position. Her team was responsible for the highest volume CMS accounts. Ms. Barrientos has over 10 years experience in the Medical Billing field and is an integral part of the management team.

Greg Tabor, Director of Operations

Greg Tabor began working at Custom Medical Services, Inc. part-time in 2004, while
he was completing his studies at The University of Miami. Mr. Tabor received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in May 2003 and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance in 2005 from the University of Miami. Prior to his employment at CMS, Greg was Assistant Director of Operations of Town and Country Industries, and worked at Morgan/Stanley and Tyco Inc. Greg began working full-time at CMS in the fall of 2006.


Associations

Custom Medical Services, Inc. is a member of HBMA Healthcare Billing and Management Association, an organization that represents over 30% of the medical providers in the United States.
